Portage, Michigan Paul died Monday morning, November 24, 2008, in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born November 3, 1936, in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Paul Perrin and Sarah Rachel Mason Kean and had been a life long area resident. Paul was a proud member of Bricklayers and Tilesetters Union Local 17/9 of Michigan, receiving his 50 year Gold Card in June, 2005. He served in many offices of the union and was a Trustee on the Pension, Apprenticeship and Insurance Boards. He was Business Manager and Representative for his Union for 25 years. Paul was a skilled negotiator at settling contracts and took pride that his members never lost one day of work due to a strike in all the years he was Business Manager. Paul was united in marriage with Hazel Elizabeth Reshman on October 20, 1956. Paul chose the opening day of pheasant season so he wouldn't forget the date! They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past October. Paul lived his life with passion and enjoyed every minute. He loved to travel and enjoyed all sports, especially golf and soccer. Paul was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Bill, Otto and Jack; and a sister, Pauline Gould. In addition to his devoted wife, Hazel, he is survived by: six children, Marshall Elfriede Kean, Sherry Walsh, Brenda Walter Darling, Kathy Richard Krocker, Paula John McLemore and Jon Paul Kean; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen VanStreain; a brother-in-law, Jerry Reshman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will begin at 10:00 Friday morning and services will be held 1:00 Friday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South. 9th Street. Pastor Buddy Turner of the First Baptist Church of Paw Paw will officiate. Paul will be laid to rest following a private graveside service in Lawton Oak Grove Cemetery. Paul's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Loaves and Fishes or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. www.langelands.com 269-343-1508
