GETZ, Paul A. of Portage Paul passed away Saturday afternoon, January 22, 2011 at his home. He was born May 17, 1933 in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Harold and Audrey Argersinger Getz. On March 27, 1954, Paul was united in marriage to Joyce Lauritzen. He was employed by J.A. Richards Co. in Kalamazoo for 42 years until his retirement. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Joyce Getz; three daughters, Maryann Getz of Kalamazoo, Carol Getz of Comstock, and Jeanette "Jan" Getz of Portage; two grandchildren; Arthur Adkins, Tori Getz; two great-grandchildren, Savanhah and Melissah; four sisters, Catherine "Rene" Gilbert Cummings of Kalamazoo, Juanita "Skeet" Dale Steeby of Kalamazoo, June Russ Greenwood of North Carolina, and Joyce Don Cheatham of North Caroline; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one daughter, Sandy Getz; his parents; and one brother, Glen Getz. Paul and Joyce day cared for many years, leaving many "adopted" children and grandchildren. He loved playing cards with family and friends. Honoring Paul's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Please join the family in celebrating Paul's life at Rosewood Apt, Club House 4774 Horton, on 12 St. just south of Parkview Ave. on Saturday, January 29, 2011, 1-3 pm, Service starting at 3 pm.
