CANTER, Paul
Galesburg, Michigan Passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008. Paul was born December 13, 1932 in Columbus, OH, a son of Ward G. and Alma E. Barcas Mc Ginnis and had lived in Michigan most of his life. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Paul was then employed by General Motors for over 30 years, where he was a gifted die maker and enjoyed helping countless people with home repairs. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Playing cards, dominoes, watching the Earnhart's in NASCAR, and golf were favorite pastimes. Paul is survived by his sons, Paul, Jr. "Joe" Melissa Canter of Nappanee, IN, Bruce Jeannie Canter of St. Petersburg, FL and Brett Canter of Portage; a special friend, Lena Story of Parchment; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; the children's mother, Etta M. Wiley; his extended family of sisters, Leora Lane, Mildred Preston, Mary Gursky and Kay Groutman all from Ohio; his brothers, Milt Bettimae McGinnis, CA, Glenn McGinnis, W. V., Harry Canter, OH. and Ward Edie Nihiser, FL. He was preceded by two brothers, Dudley "Sonny" Quick and William Hummel. Special thanks to Matthew Zuuk for his friendship and care. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 12:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Rev. Allen Barber officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 PM and on Monday beginning at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be directed to Through Our Eyes.
