RUSSELL, Mrs. M. Patricia
Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Thursday evening October 23, 2008. Pat was born January 10, 1932 in East Orange, New Jersey a daughter of Lenox and Marjorie Stevenson O'Brien. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1972. She was also a member of the Pine Island Presbyterian Church. Our mother was an extraordinary woman. At the age of 74, she continued the adventures she had always shared with our father by driving a 10 year old Jeep across the country to Montana to donate it to a charity that she had supported for many years. Our parents had become avid birdwatchers after retirement. They had traveled to all fifty states, Australia and several other countries adding to their life list of birds they had seen. Her final adventure was visiting Macchu Picchu in Peru with the final leg of the trip including a trip to the Galopogas Islands. Her biggest regret was that she was not able to make the trip to the Galapogas Islands. She had hoped to add the Blue-Footed Booby to her life list of birds. She was preceded in death by parents; and her husband, David Russell on May 23, 2007. She is survived by 5 children, Irene Russell of St. Peters, MO, Mathew Chris Russell of Kalamazoo, Mark Kathy Russell of Augusta, Bruce Yvette Russell of Denver, CO, and Margaret Russell of Portage; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday, November 1 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the services. A fellowship will be held Pine Island Presbyterian Church immediately following the memorial. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or the Pine Island Presbyterian Church.
