Hathaway, Patricia Rose "Rosie"
of Portage Went to be with her lord and beloved husband Royal and son Brian on Sunday, April 10, 2011, after a brief stay at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born on October 1, 1931 in Vicksburg, MI, the eldest daughter of John and Gladys Wienberg Corradini. Patricia met her husband, Royal Hathaway, while attending Kalamazoo Central High School. They were married on March 11, 1950. Royal nicknamed Patricia "Rosie" and she became known to many by this name. Patricia drove school bus, taught 4-H and was a strong supporter of the Portage Central Band. She attended Portage Free Methodist Church. Patricia had many passions over the years; gardening, cooking, quilting, and ceramics; although her biggest passion was time spent with and caring for family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love shown to all. Surviving are her son, Royal "Dan" Hathaway Jr. of Maryland; daughter, Carol Sage of California; grandchildren, Travis and Jami Sage of California, Shauna Sage of North Carolina, Tiffany and Andy Swenson of North Carolina, Robert Hathaway of North Carolina and David and Ericka Hathaway of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Rachel Swenson, Asher Sage and Jayden Hathaway; sisters, Jackie Rolff, Janice McLain, Joyce Corradini and Janie Myers. Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; son, Brian Hathaway; and sister, JoAnne Fransico. Funeral services for Patricia will be at 10:00 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
