BUIST, Pamela J.
Scotts Passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born July 7, 1959, a daughter of Marvin and Catherine Hill Grostic and had lived in Scotts for many years. Pamela graduated from Portage Central High School in 1977, where she was a member of the band and choir. In 1977, she was the Choir Arion award winner. She graduated from Western Michigan University in 1982, where she majored in Music Therapy. Following her schooling, she worked at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital as an activity therapist and later worked at AvTech Laboratory. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, she served as member of the Senior Choir and a director of the Cherub Choir. Pam was also a member of Chapter CN of the PEO Sisterhood. December 28, 1985, she married Terry Buist, who survives. Pam was the proud mother of Catherine Helen Buist, who was born March 17, 1991; and the step-mother to Robert Buist, Jodi Buist, Michael Buist and Michelle Buist Tim Frey. She is also survived by her parents, Marvin and Catherine Grostic, a sister, Janyce John Huff; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Grostic. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Grostic. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday tomorrow at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with Pastor John Boley and Pastors Everett & Patti Harpole, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday today from 3-5 PM.
