HORTON, Owen, Jr.
Plainwell Passed away February 5, 2008 at Borgess Hospital. Owen was born July 17, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Owen and Thelma Horton, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Kalamazoo American Legion Post. Prior to his retirement, Owen was employed for 37 years for the Brinks Printing Service at Western Michigan University. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene in 2001. Surviving are 2 sons and 1 daughter, Owen Sylvia Horton III of Plainwell, Brian Jane Horton of Bellevue, NE and Roxann Horton and significant other Bill Moore, Jr. of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren, Owen Horton IV, Eric Horton, Brian Horton and Matthew Horton; 2 brothers and 1 sister, William Horton of Houston, TX, Marilyn Royce Miller of South Bend, IN and Kenneth Janice Horton of Three Rivers; several nieces and nephews. Services for inurnment of cremated remains will be held on Saturday at 11 am in the Chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery with Pastor Steve Burrows of the Otsego Church of God officiating. Military honors by the Comstock V.F.W. Post will follow.
