RUTHERFORD, Mr. Oscar M., Jr.
of Kalamazoo, MI Died Tuesday evening July 12, 2011 at his residence. Oscar was born December 1, 1929 in Newport, Ohio a son of Oscar M. and Mary Ann Martin Rutherford, Sr. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Spartan Food Trucking for 40 years before retiring. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline M. Rutherford on November 29, 2001; a son, James; 5 brothers; 5 sisters; and a grandson, Roy. He is survived by a son, Michael Carey of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Carey of Wyoming, MI; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Rutherford-Nolan of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held in Riverside Cemetery. Private visitation was held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
