Vicksburg Lea died Sunday evening, September 25, 2011, in Portage, MI. She was born May 10, 1932 in Low Gap, Arkansas a daughter of Doy and Opha Keaton Carlton. She moved to the Kalamazoo area in the early 1950's and worked for Shakespeare Company, Beech Products and Nickles Bakery before retiring. Lea was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Garland Carlton and her dearest friend, "Winkie" Louise Ruckert . Surviving are: her partner and devoted friend, Carl Mollitor of Allegan; five children, Brenda Rex Folks of Low Gap, AR, Deborah Eugene Vogds of Kalamazoo, Greg Teresa Whitney Baldwin of Scotts, Terry Kathy Yager Baldwin of Parchment and Todd Denise Baldwin of Comstock; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; former husband, Jack Baldwin of Vicksburg; a sister, Betty Sanford Lackey of Low Gap, AR; a sister-in-law, Ruby Carlton of Huntsville, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Services will be held 2:00 Friday afternoon at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. Interment in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park will follow services. Memorials should be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
