ROEKLE, Olga M.
Kalamazoo, MI On January 16, 2009, Olga was called home by her Heavenly Father, whom she loved and unconditionally worshipped faithfully and joyously served. Olga has now followed her husband, Theodore Roekle, her parents, Rev. William T. and Marie Rehn Schalm, siblings, Paul, Margaretha, Alfred and Oscar Schalm into Eternal Glory. During her sojourn of 95 years, 7 months and 2 days here on earth, Olga touched many people in many different ways. These were, but not limited to, her church family at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a charter member and Bible Class teacher; her staff and associates at Western Michigan University where she spent all her working years and from where she retired as Director of the Budget Office; the many people who benefitted from her work as a Library of Congress certified Braille transcriber. Her work as a charter member of the local SHHH hard of hearing group, work with the Red Cross; and teaching of reading with the Literacy program. Olga will be greatly missed by her earthly family, but we are all comforted by the certain knowledge that at some point in time, we will all meet her once again in Eternal Glory. Olga is survived by her sons, Philip Helen Koch Roekle of Kalamazoo and David Carol Clayton Roekle of Farmington Hills; a grandson, Chris Tricia Petersen Roekle of Kalamazoo; granddaughters, Kim Bill Dolak of Kalamazoo, Elizabeth and Karen Roekle of Farmington Hills; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3000 W. Main St. with Rev. David Sidwell officiating. Private interment will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Constance Brown Hearing Center.
