VOSBURG, Oella G.
Scotts, Michigan Oella Gertrude Jackson Vosburg, "Lou & Louie" passed away Wednesday at Evergreen Senior Care, with her loving daughter, Rita Mae at her side. She was born November 11, 1914 at Nichols Hospital in Battle Creek, the daughter of Charles F. and Gertrude Jackson. She attended Augusta schools and grew up on the Upjohn Farm in Augusta. Following her mothers death, she was blessed with a loving step-mother, Ma Cal Jackson, who helped her become the loving person she was. She was married to Cecil Alton Vosburg on August 2, 1933 in South Bend, IN. They were blessed with 65 years of a very happy marriage and partnership before Cecil's death on January 3, 1999. Cecil and Louie moved to Climax in 1934 and there they remained to raise their children, Rita Mae David Ramsdell, Rosemary Robert Oostveen and Charles Vosburg. After Cecil's death, she made her home with her daughter Rita Mae & son-in-law, David Ramsdell. Louie was a very loving wife, mother and friend. She always put others needs before her own. Louie was employed by the Kellogg Company for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Tony the Tiger was born while she was employed at Kellogg's and she instantly had a fond admiration for him. Thus, Louie started collecting all Tony memorabilia and Kellogg collectibles. Louie even collected roosters, because there was a rooster on the Kellogg Corn Flakes box. During Louie's 32 years at Kellogg's, her family never heard her complain about the job or the many friends she made over the years. She was a woman who truly loved her employer and co-workers. Louie was a life member of the Kellogg Retiree Association, the Kellogg Twenty Five Year Club and the Three Quarters Century Club of Battle Creek, whose slogan is "Let's Live a Little Longer". She also loved music, dancing and playing Bingo. Later, Louie went to live at Evergreen Manor in Battle Creek, where she was loved and cared for. She was chosen Resident of the Month at Evergreen two times. Louie was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother and her son, Charles. She is survived by her daughters, Rita Mae David Ramsdell and Rosemary Robert Oostveen; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; special friends, Peg Moser, June Petty, Maxine French, Willa White, Stella Fleece, Mark & Ann Sinclair, Wilbur & Shirley Caville, and her loving and caring family at Evergreen Senior Care in Springfield, MI. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. with Rev. Mona Joslyn officiating. Interment will follow in Roof Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM.
