GREMEL, Norman A., M.D.
Of Kalamazoo Passed away on April 26, 2011 at Bronson Hospital. Norman was born July 21, 1924 in Saginaw, MI, a son of Elmer and Clara Wender Gremel. He served in the U.S. Army in Burma, during World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Kathryn Ittner on July 14, 1951 and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1952. After coming to Kalamazoo in 1957, he joined Kalamazoo Radiology where he practiced radiology, served for many years as president, and retired in 1990. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Kathy and going on family summer vacations with his daughters and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy on March 11, 2005. Surviving are 3 daughters, Mary Allen Dobryden of Ann Arbor, Janet Gary Schauer of Kalamazoo and Carol Michael Stovsky of Columbus, OH; 4 grandchildren, Paul and Lee Dobryden, Steven Schauer, Aimee Schauer and fiancé Andrew Zickgraf and a brother-in-law Clifford Lucille Ittner of Scottsdale, AZ. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 4 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Private interment in South Portage Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 3 pm Friday at the funeral home.
