HETRICK, Norman A.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Norm passed away, Wednesday morning, November 12, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born June 15, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the only child of Raymond and Meredith Smith Hetrick. Norm was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Consumers Power for 32 years, until his retirement in 1985. A member of Lighthouse Community Church, Norm enjoyed building many things, including 3 houses, furniture, and always helping family and friends with various projects. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. As a child he met Shirleybelle Tromper, while their families both attended the United Brethren Church, and on June 27, 1955, they were united in marriage in Kalamazoo. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Shirley Hetrick; their daughter, Joanne Dan Phelps of Kalamazoo; their granddaughter, Valerie Hirsh; and his sister-in-law, Sandee Dave Wilson of Otsego. Funeral services for Norm will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Danny Janes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
