DAVIS, Norman Neal, Jr.
Springfield, MI Formerly of Kalamazoo Neal died Monday morning March 8, 2010 at Care Community Assisted Living Center in Springfield, Michigan. Neal was born January 11, 1924 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Norman and Blanch Riest Davis, Sr. During WW II, he served with the United States Navy. Neal lived in Kalamazoo until 2004 when he and his wife moved to an assisted living community in Springfield, Mich. Neal worked for many years as a skilled auto body painter with Daleiden's, Tom Cronley and later Seeley Ford. As a young man, Neal was a recognized Golden Gloves boxer. He also enjoyed Sunday league baseball. Many will remember Neal for his love of fishing and playing golf. Neal served in a leadership position with the Douglas Community Association and he assisted his wife with school and neighborhood projects. On March 21, 1945 Neal was united in marriage to Grace L Davis.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace L. Davis on December 13, 2007; and his daughter, Grace L. Davis. He is survived by 3 children, Norman N Sue Davis III of Arizona, Walter W. Sheryle Davis of Bellevue, Mi., and James A. Davis of Grand Rapids Mi., 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may meet the family from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A service will be held at 4:30 P.M. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
