Nellie M Macomber

MACOMBER, Nellie M. Of Kalamazoo Nellie passed away Thursday afternoon August 23, 2007. She was born January 4, 1919, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Leonard and Mona MacFarland Doty and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a longtime member of the Stockbridge United Methodist Church. Throughout the years she had been involved in many activities for her children including, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and as a full time mother and grandmother. Then in later years she volunteered in the Grandfriend Reading Program at Angling Road School and was an avid Crossroads Mall walker. Nellie enjoyed doing special things for both family and friends, but the most important part of her life was her family. On December 28, 1940 she was united in marriage to Milo C. Macomber who preceded her in death on February 4, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Beam in 2004 and by all of her brothers and sisters, Dora, Ruth, Betty, Irvin, Marshall, Orvell, Emmett, Smith and Michael. Surviving are her son and daughter, Conn Sheri Macomber of Climax and Judi Robert Beam of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Stephan Macomber Vicki Cox, Morgan Pamela Macomber, Daphney Macomber, Ian Macomber, Daniel Nicole Beam and Andrew Jane Beam; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Aiden, Megan, Sydney, Taylor, Ashley, Lauren, Allyson, Joseph, Olivia and Hannah; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Gus Senne. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday with Rev. John Moore officiating. A private family interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
