KIEWIET, Mrs. Nellie J.
Kalamazoo Nellie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 24, 2009. She was born October 4, 1920, in Kalamazoo to Dirk & Catharina Van Liere Goldschmeding. On March 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Isaac Kiewiet, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1993. She was also preceded by a sister, Bertha Slater, and two brothers, Peter and John Goldschmeding. Surviving are: her children, Carol Duane Scholten of Kalamazoo, Nancy David Willemstein of Grand Rapids, Rev. David Jan Kiewiet of Brisbane, Australia, and Paul Kiewiet of Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren, Dan Krystin Scholten, Laura John Beck, Mark Michelle Scholten, Juli Jeff Duprey, Jeff Tracey Willemstein, Rachel Bruce Lowe, Nathan Elizabeth Kiewiet, Amy John Barrow, Rebecca Bill Brouwer, Elizabeth Kiewiet and Stephanie Kiewiet; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wilder and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her many friends. She was employed by the Kalamazoo Public Schools in the lunch program and later as a secretary in the Administration building. She was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Bronson Hospital. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Services will be held 11:00 Monday morning in Calvary Bible Church's chapel, 855 S. Drake Rd, with her pastor, Rev. Tim Bero, officiating. Private burial at Mt. Everest will be held later. Memorials may be directed to the Community Presbyterian Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
