Formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan Nelda passed away Tuesday morning, August 11, 2009 at home. She was born April 7, 1936 in Novi, the daughter of the late Milton and Beatrice Wellman Ford. On July 18, 1953, Nelda was united in marriage to Robert C. Burroughs in Monroe. She was employed by Verdries Nursing Home for 27 years until her retirement. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Bob Burroughs; 7 children, Kathy David Guess of Kalamazoo, Keith Val Dora Burroughs of Portage, Karen Jamie Reaume of Shelbyville, Robert Jr. Dawn Burroughs of Allegan, Janice Friedl of Allegan, James Burroughs of Kalamazoo, and Bea Tom Dahl of Vicksburg; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, June Brooks of Monroe, Delores Bill Chapman of Dundee, and Joyce Dave Darby of Brooksville, FL; 2 brothers, Gary Fran Ford of Kalamazoo and Danny Pat Cote of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Nancy Hotrum of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her son, Kenneth Burroughs; her parents; 3 brothers, Don Ford, Larry Ford, and Larry Carey; and 1 sister, Deana Connelly. Funeral services for Nelda will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Chaplain Bob Pumfery officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
