Nathaniel “Nat” Michael Holysz, 21, of Portage passed unexpectedly Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Born May 18, 2001, in Valdez, Alaska at 9lbs 4 oz. and could be soothed to sleep by listening to the Beatles and the Bee Gees. As he grew, he became very interested in video games and technology and attended classes at The Vanguard School in Lake Wales, FL in preparation for college. More recently, he had decided he would like a career in computer hardware development and was researching class options at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new Zelda game.
Nathaniel was fortunate to have a very full although brief life. He was well traveled and enjoyed spending time in Alaska, Canada, as well as Africa where he learned to become an experienced fisherman, hunter, and a target shooter marksman. He was known for his great sense of humor and his infectious smile. Nathaniel was also fond of sending loved one’s weather reports because in his words “you needed to know”. It shows how empathetic and concerned he was for his family.
Spending time with his family was also one of his favorite pass times. As a young adult, he always made time for his mother, they would often be found together on the couch watching Investigative Discovery shows or natural disaster action movies, with their four cats, Rocky, George, Zachariah, and Callie. Nathaniel was also developing a new love for cooking and had begun experimenting with food and recipes as a new hobby.
He is survived in death by his mother, Polly Holysz and brothers Luke and Chris Holysz, his maternal grandparents, William and Kaye Centers, his paternal grandmother Christine Holysz as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Holysz and his paternal grandfather Joseph Holysz.
