Passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at her home. Nancy was born September 26, 1955 in Kalamazoo the daughter of the late John and Janice (Holmes) Dobbie and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. She was a graduate of Portage Northern High School, class of 1973; and Western Michigan University in 1978. Nancy earned her Masters degree in Counseling/Psychology in 2001. She was employed for most her life with PNC as a Vice President and Project Manager. Nancy also spent 2 years running small businesses in the healing arts. On October 11, 1980 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Joe Hitson who survives. Also surviving are her children, Kyle (Emily) Hitson, Katy Hitson; 2 grandchildren, Gavin and Bentley; sister and brother, Barb (Jim) Wolverton, Brian (Maureen) Dobbie; loving in-laws, Dennis (Mary) Hitson, Tim (Melissa) Hitson, Denise Hitson; and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at 3:00pm Monday, July 10 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Special Olympics Area 16, 50505 Meadow Oak Trail, Mattawan, MI 49071, or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
