DeVries, Nancy Adele
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Age 71. Nancy was born in Chicago, IL on April 28, 1942, the daughter of the late Arthur and Adele Nickel Grunwaldt. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Christian Women's Club of Kalamazoo, the Portage Women's Club, the Kalamazoo Community Choir and was a 4H Leader. She was a very creative person who enjoyed cooking, quilting, painting and reading. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jack B. DeVries; three daughters, Kathryn William Cody of Kalamazoo, Alice Jon Tomer of Galesburg and Christine Sean Brady of Portage; six grandchildren, Ethan Cody, Alex and Bryce Ballentine, Ryan and Lucy Tomer and Shawnie Brady; one sister, Carolyn Richard Kuehl Vestal of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Ballentine; and her brother, Paul Grunwaldt. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd. Rev. Tim Seeber will officiate. Private interment of Nancy's cremated remains will take place later at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be made in Nancy's name to the Alzheimer's Association, the West Michigan Cancer Center or Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
