Passed away Monday morning, October 16, 2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Nancy was born July 14, 1938 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Woodrow and Dorothy (Snay) Peckhem. She was a member of the Junior Lassies baseball team. Nancy was employed by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff department for 23 years where she was known as “Pooh Bear” by her many friends/co-workers. She had a huge love for auto racing where she met her husband, Paul. Playing bingo and having coffee time with her dear friends at Spring Manor was one of her favorite pastimes. Nancy enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Cubs, cuddling with her kitty, Pumpkin, and working on her Diamond Paintings.
Nancy was preceded in death by husbands Harold Wright in 1971, and Paul Blanchard in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a son and daughter, Charles Wright and Susan Robbert; an infant brother, Billy; sisters and brother, Dorothy Trevino, Patti Peckem, Sherri Peckem, and Dennis Peckem. Nancy is survived by her children, Steven (Debora) Wright, Tammy (Ron) Schmellmeyer, Daughter-in-law Marj Wright and Son-in-law Doug Robbert; 4 grandchildren, Renee (Eli) Deyarmin, Mandy (Richard) Kerns, Mikey Rappleye and Erik Wright. 4 great-grandchildren, James and Tyler Kienbaum and Jaxon and Emma Deyarmin; brothers and sister, Bud (Barb) Peckhem, Sandy (Larry) Knowlton, Bob (Shannon) Peckhem; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00-5:00pm Saturday, October 21 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private family interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice.
