SCHWARTZ, Mr. Murray C.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday evening October 20, 2010. Murray was born June 23, 1926 in Malden, Massachusetts a son of Samuel and Anna Schwartz. He attended Curry College in Boston, majoring in dramatics and radio broadcasting from 1946-48. He also attended Boston University College of Arts and Science from 1949-53 majoring in psychology. He subsequently attended Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work, majoring in Clinical Social Work. Murray was employed as a Psychotherapist at Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, MA for 25 years before retiring. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 7 years, coming from Philadelphia, PA. Murray was a humanist at heart and loved being around people. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol; and 3 brothers, Phillip, Nate, and Mike Schwartz. On August 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Barbara F. Bennett Schwartz who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Julie Evans of Portage; a son-in-law, Thomas Evans of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Victoria, Matthew, Adam, and Hana; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 o'clock Sunday in Mt. Home Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Awareness Program. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
