SCHWARTZ, Mr. Murray C.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday evening October 20, 2010. Murray was born June 23, 1926 in Malden, Massachusetts a son of Samuel and Anna Schwartz. He attended Curry College in Boston, majoring in dramatics and radio broadcasting from 1946-48. He also attended Boston University College of Arts and Science from 1949-53 majoring in psychology. He subsequently attended Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work, majoring in Clinical Social Work. Murray was employed as a Psychotherapist at Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, MA for 25 years before retiring. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 7 years, coming from Philadelphia, PA. Murray was a humanist at heart and loved being around people. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol; and 3 brothers, Phillip, Nate, and Mike Schwartz. On August 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Barbara F. Bennett Schwartz who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Julie Evans of Portage; a son-in-law, Thomas Evans of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Victoria, Matthew, Adam, and Hana; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 o'clock Sunday in Mt. Home Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Awareness Program.
