Kalamazoo, MI Morien L. Bren passed away on August 20th in Kalamazoo, MI. He was 86 years old. He was a deeply loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who devoted his life to enriching those around him. Morey retired from his job as National Field Manager at the Woodmen of the World headquarters in Omaha in 1991 and moved to Kalamazoo with his wife Jean for retirement. Not long after retiring, he took a new job as a modular home appraiser and drove all over southwest Michigan until he was in his early eighties. While he spent most of his adult life working for living, he lived to help others. He always stopped to help anyone that had a question or a problem. Morey was preceded in death by his father Stephen Bren, mother Sophia Bren, and brother Don Bren. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Bren, daughter Sherry Mattingly and her husband Denny, daughter Sue Liberty and her husband Girard, son Gary Bren and his wife Gretchen, as well as three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service in Kalamazoo will be announced at a later date, but memorials in his honor can be offered to the Greater Kalamazoo Chapter of the American Red Cross or the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
