Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Mina was born July 25, 1914 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Clyde and Effie Schuring Sylva and was a lifelong resident of the area. She had been employed by Sutherland Paper Co. as an inspector for 25 years and also the Brown Paper Co. Mina was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo for many years, the James River Retiree Club, a Life Membership in the United Paperworkers, International Union, Local 1010, AFL-CIO CLC. She also served as the past Chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association, Unit #298, of Grand Rapids; a member of Patriarch Militant, I.O.O. F. Canton Auxiliary #19. She was the Noble Grand of the Burr Oak Lodge #184 for 10 terms; the Esther Circle, Good Times Club and the F.T.L. Club. Mina was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth E. Austin and George W. Gilger. She is survived by her Son-in-law Fred Ruble Sr. of Lawton; grandchildren, Sylva Robert Lucas of Gans, PA, and Fred Ruble, Jr. of Lawton; great grandchildren James, Kenneth, Alicia and Anna; great great grandchildren, Terrance, Tristen, Aleyah, Carter and Jayden. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. with Pastor Larry Brelje officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The visitation for Mina will begin two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Senior Services.
