RUDEN, Milton
Of Portage Milton passed away Monday, October 29, 2007. He was born March 25, 1922 in New York, NY, one of four and the youngest child of Joseph and Fannie Oppenheim Ruden. Milt was a medic in the United States Army serving during World War II, earning himself the rank of captain and participating in both the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. degree in Business. In 1960, Milt purchased the first Midas Muffler Shop in Kalamazoo until selling in 1974. Until his retirement, he pursued other personal business ventures. Milt was a devoted and active member of the Congregation of Moses. On February 11, 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Levinson, with whom he was happily wed for 56 years. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2007. Also preceding him in death are his parents; and three sisters, Betty Friedman, Thelma Steinberg and Flora Schufman. Surviving are two sons, Andrew Janis Ruden of West Bloomfield, MI and Frederick Ruden of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Sarey, Noah, Zachary and Olivia; three nephews, Joseph Friedman and Mark and Joel Schufman; and one niece, Carol Glaser. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am Thursday tomorrow at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Rabbi Harvey Spivak officiating. Interment will follow in Jewish Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in Milton?s memory may be directed to the Congregation of Moses or In-House Hospice Solutions.
