Portage, Michigan Passed away Sunday evening, August 17, 2008. Mike was born November 7, 1971 in Allegan the son of Larry and Susan Gillies Spaman. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and was employed with Perrigo for several years. Mike was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and was very involved with the Portage Northern Marching Band. Mike especially enjoyed being involved in his children's school life and the Girl Scout Embers. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family, squirrel hunting and jet skiing. On September 26, 1998 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Mary Ann Peters who survives. Also surviving are his children, James, Shane, and Holly Spaman; his mother, Susan Ken Harrington; father, Larry Cindy Spaman; grandparents, Roger Knobloch; Cliff Dorothy Harrington; step-parents, Charlie Chris Harwood; sister and brothers, Emily Scott Stewart, Charles Harwood II, Timothy Harwood, William Harwood and fiancé Ashley DeVries, Patrick Gillies; special friends, Teresa and Jenn; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Norma Knobloch; and an uncle Mikeljon Gillies. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held 12:00PM Friday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham with Pastor Paul Nuechterlein officiating. Friends may meet the family from 11:00-12:00 Friday at the church. Private family interment of cremains will be at a later date.
