Michael Patrick O’Hare passed away peacefully at home after a five-year battle with dementia. Michael was born on October 17, 1946, in Angola, Indiana to the late John and Vonetta (Grandstaff) O’Hare. After graduating from high school, Michael went on to college at Northern Michigan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and began teaching. He pursued other careers in various industries including Logistics, Insurance Sales, Retail Management and spent his final career years as a Driver’s Training Instructor. Michael was very proud that he was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed coaching his children in sports and volunteering with other organizations including Boy Scouts and Meals on Wheels.
Michael is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith (Carson); children, Brian O’Hare, Kevin (Krystle) O’Hare, Kimberly (Cornell) Sampson, Kelley (Joshua) Prosser; grandchildren, Racheal O’Hare, Austin O’Hare, Kylie Sampson, Camille Sampson, Conner Sampson, Hannah Prosser, Clara Prosser; one great grandchild, Pilot; Brother, Jack O’Hare; Sister, Michele Hallett.
Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 10am to 12pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 23rd St. North, Battle Creek, MI 49015, with Mass immediately following the visitation. At the conclusion of the service, the family invites anyone to stay for lunch after Mass.
