MESSER, Michael I.
Of Comstock, Michigan Passed away on July 30, 2010 in Portage, MI. Michael was born March 4, 1949 in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Isaac and Dolores Boyd Messer and lived in the Kalamazoo area for most of his life. He was employed at the Kalamazoo Paper Co. Georgia Pacific for several years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed bowling, pitching horse shoes and playing Yahtzee with his son in law Jim. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are 2 daughters and 1 son, Shelly Jim Sprau of Portage, Michael Kelly Airhart of Illinois and Kasie Greg Buckner of Galesburg; 9 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Larry Judy Messer of Battle Creek, Deborah Tom Schauer of Lawrence, Jeff Donna Messer of Indiana and Lisa Bob Stutz of Portage; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Michael's brother, Pastor Jeff Messer officiating. Interment will follow in Bronson Cemetery in Bronson, MI.
