Portage This amazing man passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his home. He was born October 23, 1954 in Detroit, a son of William O. and June Walper Mattingly and had lived in the Portage area for many years. During his working days, he operated Denny B Bobcat Company, providing landscape services. He was a wonderful son and brother to his family. Michael is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Lois Nicholson, his mother, June Mattingly and his sister, Maxine Kirschenbauer, all of Portage; his brother, Mark Deborah Mattingly of Lexington, MA; nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, William; a sister, Diane Benedetti; and a brother-in-law, Lou Kirschenbauer. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Center Ave. beginning at 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM with Rev. James Dyke officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to West Michigan Cancer Center.
