Schelling, Merril O.
Of Vicksburg Passed away Thursday evening, May 2, 2013. Merril was born June 4, 1921, in Marion, IN the son of Albert and Mabel Blair Schelling. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was employed for several years with the Kalamazoo Stove Company and then later for 10 years with the maintenance department at the Portage Public Schools. Merril enjoyed gardening and selling his produce. On February 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Ellen Arnold, who preceded him in death on September 25, 1991. He was also preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters, Owen Schelling, Irene Krinn, and Dorothy Laymon. Surviving are his children, Merril Jean Schelling, Linda Larry Nanninga; 2 grandsons, Robb Shannon Nanninga, Trevor Kara Nanninga; 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Gretchen, and Liam Nanninga; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or services. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
