Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on her birthday, Saturday, March 15, 2008. She was born in Kalamazoo, the daughter of James Henry and Hazel Maud Pascoe Klok and was a lifelong resident here. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1959 and had worked in jewelry sales for many years. She loved her family, especially her kids and grandkids, following their sporting events and activities. Meredith and her husband, Jim, spent the last 12 winters in Naples, FL where she was active in the Red Hat Society and bowling. On March 22, 1969, she married James Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Kevin Patti Thompson of Marshall, Tim Thompson of Kalamazoo, Valaurie Mike Meddock of Kalamazoo, James Shannon Thompson of Stevensville and Julia Brian Hercik, of Kalamazoo; her step-children, Sandra Lassitter of Portage and Sheila Larry Beilby, of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Jillian, Colin and Braden Thompson, Rebekah, Jason and Cyndi Thompson, Paige, Amber and Carson Stoneburner, Molly and Ben Meddock, Landen and Nolan Thompson, Connor and Broderick Hercik, Hunter Lassitter, Jesse and Shyla Staley; 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, James Connie Klok of Kalamazoo; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Rachel Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Please note location change with Rev. Richard Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center of Kalamazoo.
