JAQUAYS, Mr. Melbourne O. "Mel"

Died Saturday afternoon May 20, 2017. Mel was born August 3, 1919 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, son of Walter and Vianna "Vera" (Angell) Jaquays. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and owned and operated Jaquays Electric Service for over 38 years before retiring. Mel was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Gertrude M. Jaquays on September 2, 2010. He was a member of Faith Reformed Church and later Lakeland Reformed Church. Mel is survived by 3 children, Gloria (Duane) Bodfish of Watervliet, MI, Robert (Loida) Jaquays of Vicksburg, and Richard Jaquays of Portage; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren. Services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday at Lakeland Reformed Church, 10442 Sprinkle Rd. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Lakeland Reformed Church.
