MORTENSEN, MAXINE L.
of Portage, Michigan Maxine Lucille Mortensen, age 88, passed away June 1, 2013 at her home in Portage. Maxine was born August 15, 1924, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Paul and Lucile Plotts Rapp and has been a lifelong area resident. She was employed for over 40 years with Consumer Power Company. Maxine was a member of Milwood United Methodist Church. She had a bit of gypsy in her heart and loved to travel. She especially loved vacationing at the family cabin in Baldwin, Michigan. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and by her former husbands, William Coleman and Russel Andrus. On November 27, 1985, she found the true love of her life and was united in marriage to Bruce Mortensen who survives. Together they enjoyed travel across country, abroad and many local day trips. The favorite on the list was to South Haven to watch the sunset. Love, Life and Happiness was celebrated with ice cream. Also surviving are her daughter, Beth Donald Hauck of Kalamazoo; grandchildren Dawn David Geiger of Sequim, WA, Jennifer William Cherry of Fernley, NV and great-grandchildren Colleen Geiger, Cody Geiger and Alexandria Cherry. Step-children: Stuart Shirley Mortensen of Rockford, MI, Cheeri Mike Corning of Kalamazoo, MI, Gary Sue Mortensen of Central Lake, MI, Mark Dotti Mortensen of Breedsville, MI, Trudy David Sumner of Breedsville, MI; step-grandchildren Danny Mortensen, Shane Corning, Ronnie Holly Mortensen, Stephanie Jason Rainey, Kirk Amy Mortensen, Jens Amber Mortensen, Jodi Mortensen, Steena Adam Brown, Kelsey Sumner and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Brother: Robert Judy Rapp of Portage, MI and several wonderful nieces and nephews. In accordance with Maxine's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The family welcomes you to a remembrance ice cream social will be held on June 22, 2-4 pm at the Milwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Maxine's memory may be directed to Reverence Hospice. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes
