Of Richland, MI Maxine went to Heaven Thursday afternoon, October 15, 2009 following a brief illness. A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Maxine was born August 9, 1912, in Gary, Indiana to the late Joseph and Julia Kuharich Brasich. Maxine worked at The Stove Company and thereafter at the James River Corporation, where she retired from after 25 years of service. She loved and lived a healthy life. She enjoyed her family, gardening, baking, cooking, crocheting, and had a love of animals. She also loved to read and enjoyed many authors. Maxine attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie James O'Brien; six grandchildren, Brian Barb Rowley, Julia William Cawood, Ethan Dianna Erickson, Kelly Thomas Burdgick, Shawn Steven Messner, and Patrick O'Brien; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Homoki; daughter, Romona Homoki Rowley Erickson; one brother; and four sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street, with Msgr. Michael Hazard celebrant. Private entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
