Matthew Cameron Warren Kalamazoo Matthew Cameron Warren passed away suddenly on August 24, 2007 while engaged in his favorite outdoor activity?golf. He was born August 10, 1951 in Harvey, IL to Richard Wallace and Betty Jane Ritts Warren, who preceded him in death. Matthew had lived in Illinois, Germany, New Jersey, and California, but had made Kalamazoo his home for the last 28 years. He had worked as a mechanical designer/engineer for companies in and around Kalamazoo as well as in nearby states. While working in Kalamazoo, he earned his Associate Degree in Physics at KVCC. He was a member of the KMGA, ASPE, ASHRAE, American Mensa, and many golf leagues. In addition to golf, he enjoyed the many spectator sports that Kalamazoo had to offer and had been a dedicated K-Wings Hockey fan for over 25 years. In quieter hours, he was an avid reader of science fiction. In December 1975, and again on August 18, 1979, he married his wife, Catherine, who survives. Also surviving are his brothers Richard Pat Warren of Warrenville, IL, Marshall Pat Warren of Westchester, IL, and Michael Luise Warren of Naperville, IL; sister-in-law, Barbara Backe of Lansing, IL, brother-in-law, Frank George Joyce Spogis of Monticello, IN; his nephews, Wally Tracey Warren, Jonathan Siobhan Warren, Brett Warren, Calvin & Fred Warren, Paul Lourdes Backe, Jason Maureen Backe, a special niece, Jennifer Lonnie Spires; nieces, Michelle Bobby Carney, Melanie Todd Sapper, Dawn Paul Finch, Dena Dawson; grandnieces and grandnephews: Lauren, Joey, Kaitlyn, & Michael Backe, Brandon & Adam Backe, Kristin & Emma Spires; A.J. Carney, Melissa & Nikki Sapper, Kari, Dakota, & Hana Finch, Madeline Young & Savanah Mendoza; long-time friend, Guy Harrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Frank and Donna Spogis, special nephew, Thomas M. Backe, dear grandnephew, Tyler Spires, grandnephew, Maddox Warren, grandniece, Hailey Finch, and close friend, Robert Mitchell. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Langeland Westside Chapel at 1:00PM with visitation to take place 1 hour prior to the service. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Matthew?s memory may be made to Family & Children Services, 1608 Lake St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
