KUIPER, Matthew, Sr.
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2008. Matthew was born March 16, 1910 in Groningen, The Netherlands the son of Matthew and Elizabeth Kuiper. Matthew immigrated to the United States when he was 5 years old. He worked for Unifab for 33 years and was a member of Third Reformed Church. Matthew also enjoyed steam engine trains, bird watching, and wildlife. On May 23, 1936 he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Baker who preceded him in death in 1962. He was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew, Jr.; son-in-law, Stanley DeBoer; and 10 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Margaret DeBoer; 3 grandsons, James DeBoer, David Anita DeBoer, Edward DeBoer; a great-grandson, Elliot; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services were held today at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Third Reformed Church.
