Age 19 of Vicksburg Matthew was the cherished son of Douglas and Sondra Miner Houtkooper and loving brother of Joshua Houtkooper. He was born on November 28, 1990 and passed away too soon on March 11, 2010. Matt graduated with honors from Vicksburg High School in 2009. He was an exceptionally talented bass guitarist who loved music and a creative artist with a gift for drawing. Matt enjoyed family ski trips and camping vacations. All those who knew Matt appreciated his sense of humor and joyful smile. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. Matt is survived by his parents, his brother, his grandparents, Pauline Houtkooper, Pat Miner, Laurel and Betty Miner, plus many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including his special game night friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Elaine Houtkooper. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 19, from 4-8 PM at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Street. A service to celebrate Matt's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, at Southridge Reformed Church, 6726 Texas Drive, with a luncheon immediately following.
