BENJAMIN, Matilda M.
Portage Passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Matilda was born March 14, 1929 in Chicago, IL the daughter of George, Sr. and Barbara Schleyer Mahr. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Kalamazoo State Psychiatric Hospital. Matilda was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church; was an avid deer hunter; and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband Nile Benjamin; a very special friend, Chuck Beatty; and a sister, Anna Hopkins. She is survived by a brother, George Mahr Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family on Sunday, January 4 from 4-7pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Monday at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Race for Kid's Sake.
