Of Augusta Passed away Monday morning, November 10, 2008. Mathew was born May 4, 1931 in Kalamazoo the son of George and Harriet Kuiper Kiewiet. He was a veteran serving in the U.S Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Mathew worked with the Vicksburg Schools for several years and then with the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. On September 8, 1951 he was united in marriage to the former Dora Jenkins who preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Lawrence and Gordon; a daughter, Cynthia Dimmock; 3 sisters and a brother. Surviving are his children, Steven Ann Kiewiet, Brenda Bill Loviska, Bernadine William DeBlecourt, Carla Robert Moore, Kim Reed and Tracy Call, Scott Maurine Kiewiet; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Henrietta Carpenter, Harm Kiewiet; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Verna Sibert. Services will be held 11:00 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Pastor Herb Hutchinson officiating. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the chapel. Cremation will follow services and interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors.
