MIELKE, Maryella "Mary"
of Kalamazoo Went home to her Lord and Savior and her husband Chuck, January 15, 2012. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 16, 1921 to Morris and Edna Alice Keasey Kuschner. Mary married the love of her life, Julius "Chuck" Mielke on August 13, 1943, who preceded her in death in October of 1998. Mary went to South Haven Schools and graduated in 1939. She was an avid reader and loved to play the piano and enjoyed putting puzzles together and needlework. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 50 years. She reviewed books for their library and worked in the food pantry. She and Chuck had three daughters, Mary Lou Chuck Woody, Carla Howard Kliever and Donna Steve Brown; 7 grandchildren, MikeWoody, Lynn Gage, Heather Beau Clark Brown, Megan Brown, Debi John Chapman, Amy Paul Treadwell and Laura Chris Neiss; 9 great grandchildren; brother, George Kuschner; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 20th, 11:00 at Bethel Baptist Church, with a visitation at the church from 10-11:00 just prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. After the luncheon, interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials may be directed to Bethel Baptist Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wants to thank the staff at Park Place Assisted Living for the care they gave Mary for thirteen years.
