ZESIGER, Mary Lou
Of Portage Passed away peacefully Thursday morning, February 21, 2013 at home with her sons at her side. Mary Lou was born February 2, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Willoughby and Pauline Adams Davis. On March 25, 1961 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Jim. Mary Lou spent the next 20 years traveling the United States and the world as an Air Force wife and mother, residing in Mississippi, Alaska, Texas, Florida, North Dakota, Australia and Wyoming. A final assignment led the family to Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. Following Jim's retirement from the Air Force in 1980, the family relocated to Portage, Michigan where Mary Lou was employed for the next 25 years with the W.L. Molding Company. Mary Lou was an avid reader and enjoyed growing African Violets, crocheting, bowling, garage sale shopping, bird watching, and caring for stray cats and tropical fish. Mary Lou cherished time and trips taken with her family and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Raymond Baker. Surviving family includes her brother, Jim Davis of West Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Richard Deb Zesiger of Galesburg, Michigan, John Mary Zesiger of Portage, Michigan; and four grandchildren, Amy, Andrew, Jessie, and Jimmy. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where a memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday with Pastor Adam Metzger officiating. Inurnment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.
