Mary Agnes Thompson (Hall), 95, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on November 23, 2023. She was born to William and Agnes (Buchii) Hall on June 4, 1928, in Hartford, CT. Mary was a vibrant, resourceful, and productive individual.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters: Judy (Gary) Gudelsky, Nancy Smith, Lorri (David) Walch; and son, John (Tina) Randall Thompson. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, two step granddaughters, one step great-granddaughter, and also survived by several nephews and a niece. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, John Thompson, who passed away on November 15, 2000.
Mary worked as a Pediatric Registered Nurse, a profession she was proud to serve. She graduated from Bridgeport Hospital Nursing School. Mary's dedication to her work and interest in Medicine made an impact on countless lives.
Mary and John were long-time members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and, before that, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Drayton Plains, MI. Mary served, and sometimes led, many aspects of Church life.
Volunteerism was important in other parts of her life. She was active in the local chapter of P.E.O International, as well as Girl Scouts, Parent Teacher Association, and Band Boosters.
In their free time, Mary and John enjoyed hiking, traveling, and ballroom dancing. Mary had a zest for life and embraced every opportunity to explore the world around her.
Visitation for Mary will begin at 9:30 AM, with a memorial service to celebrate Mary's life immediately following on December 2nd at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, located at 247 W. Lovell St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
The family kindly requests no flowers- instead, donations may be made in Mary's memory to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) at dav.org.
