Mary E. Sleeman

Died April 18, 2011 at Directors Hall in Kalamazoo. Mary was born July 8, 1915 in Sodus, MI, a daughter of Earl and Grace Babcock Hippensteel and was a life-long Kalamazoo area resident. She was a member of the Oshtemo United Methodist Church and the Paw Paw Senior Citizens. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Sleeman in 1967, a son Earl Sleeman, a daughter Alice Sleeman, 2 sisters, Alice Seiser and Gladys Naragon, and 3 brothers, Vernon, Jack, and Chester Hippensteel. Surviving are a daughter and 3 sons, Phyllis Marlan Harvey of Gobles, David Joan Sleeman of Scotts, Vernon Barbara Sleeman of Kalamazoo, and Floyd Sandi Sleeman of Commerce, TX; a special granddaughter Brenda Missias and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, April 22 at 12:00 p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E Centre St with Pastor Suzanne Kornowski officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, at the Portage Chapel. Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Michigan Heart Fund, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, or Oshtemo United Methodist Church.
