Mary Garnet Harmens Saboe

HARMENS, Mary Garnet Saboe
of Portage, Michigan Passed on to be with the Lord, May 7th. She passed on without pain, and with her family near her. Garnet first married Louis Saboe, whom passed away in 1978. Their love for each other and their farm, Paradise Ranch, gave them a great marriage. In 1981, she married Lowell Harmens, her high-school sweetheart. They had 24 wonderful years together. They enjoyed winter trips to the Florida Keys and summers in Portage as well as enjoying their grandchildren. Lowell passed away in Marathon, Florida in 2004. Since that time Garnet had travelled winters to the Florida Keys, and summers in Michigan. She had her best friend, Millie Hartgerink to go to church with and eat dinner together. She leaves behind her dearest daughters Carole McMurtrie and Dixie Lee Henckel. Carole's husband, Eddie, survives as well as Dixie's husband Bob Henckel. She leaves one great-grandchild - Blake Feldman. Also, three grandchildren; Karter Krueger of Kalamazoo, Kelli Feldman Blaszczyk of Lapeer, and Kristi Lee Hutton of Big Pine Key, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Stand Up for Animals of the Florida Keys, the Kalamazoo County Animal Shelter, the Allegan County Animal Shelter, Bethany Reformed Church of Kalamazoo, or the Keys Vineyard Church, Big Pine Key, FL. Visitation is Sunday 5-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 South Burdick Street. Services and Garnet's life celebration will be May 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo.
