Mary Elizabeth Mumby

MUMBY, Mary Elizabeth of Portage Passed away Monday, September 17, 2007, in Three Rivers. Mary was born October 22, 1918 in Shelbyville, Michigan, the daughter of Augusta and Myrtle Ryder Thomas. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked at the Lakeside Boys Home and Martin?s Drive In on Sprinkle Road. Mary was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to garage sales, but the most important part of her life was her family. On October 7, 1938 she was united in marriage to George R. Mumby who preceded her in death on May 26, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith L. Mumby in 1987; by her parents; and by all of her siblings, Gertrude Howe, Arthur Thomas, Virginia Honeysett and Aileen Hill. Surviving are her daughter, Kay Bowers of Mendon; grandchildren, Guy Kaminga of Mendon, Teresa Jon Leversee of Fulton; 5 great-grandchildren, Amber and Dalton Kaminga, Kristin and Taryn Burlingham and Cody Leversee; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday today from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday September 19. Memorials in Mary?s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association.
