Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Wynwood of Portage Assisted Living, where she has resided for the past 8 years. Mary was born March 28, 1920 in Kalamazoo
the daughter of Casper and Wilhelmina Roelofs Smith and had been a resident of Kalamazoo area for many years. Mary graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1938, was a former member of the Doster Reformed Church and the Living Word Church in Florida, and had lived in Florida from 1984 until 2000. She had been active in both churches where she played the organ and piano for services. Mary also made reproductions of antique dolls under the name "Mary Kaye Dolls". On February 22, 1942 she married Donald John Mulder and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Allen Mulder in 1949; and a sister, Henrietta Bedell. Mary is survived by her daughters, Marcia John Blue of Byron Center, Carol Jeffrey Simpson of Lebanon, NJ and Nancy Larry Little of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren; Jim Amy Blue, Michael Leslie Blue, Larry Pollie Little, Tim Beth Little, Kathy Greg McClelland and Mary Beth Frank Shepherd; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother, William Ralph Janet Smith of New Port Richey, FL. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
