MILLER, Mary Vennie Kalamazoo Passed away May 14, 2010 at her home. Mary was born February 13, 1925 in Cowpens, SC, a daughter of Hobert W. and Nellie Dorman Putman. She was a resident of the Kalamazoo area for over 60 years and had worked for Oaks Carton Company and KVP for many years. Mary was a member of the Faith Reformed Church, enjoyed fishing, camping, walking and was an avid reader. She also was a rock hound in Paradise and Two Hearted River in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. On June 4, 1948, she married Edward Miller, whom she met in the music department of a dime store in Spartanburg, SC. In addition to Edward, Mary is survived by her sons, James Miller of Spartanburg, SC and Timothy Peggy Miller of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Kalvin Michael Rachel Miller and their son Kameron, of Alexandria, VA and Kathleen "Katie" Miller of Kalamazoo; her brothers and sisters, Charles Beverly Putman, Ruby Starnes, George Putman, Martha Kenneth Mc Graw, Carolyn Terry Stacy and Kenneth Betty Sue Putman all of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Allie Putman; brother-in-law, Carl Barb Miller of Portage; many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Edward "Josh" Putman, Frank Putman and Paul Putman; and one sister, Helen Putman. Committal services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave. with Rev. David Bruninks officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
