MC CALL, Mary F. Kalamazoo Mary Frances McCall died on Thursday, December 14th. Mary was born on July 8, 1910, in Rush Hill, Missouri. She is survived by her sons, John and wife Havala, Stephen and wife Ruby, and Robert and wife Barb; by her grandchildren Jennifer, Cade, Tom, David and wife Lisa, Cory and Kristin McCall, and Kendra McCall McQuillan and husband Sean; and by her great grandchildren, Jack Treyball and Bailey McCall. Mary taught in country schools in Missouri and later graduated from Washington University. She taught speech and lip reading at Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis after graduation. Mary married Edwin McCall in 1938 in Rush Hill, Missouri. They raised their sons in St. Louis. They retired in 1969 and spent fourteen years in Kimberling City, Missouri before moving to Kalamazoo in 1982 to be near family. Edwin died in October of 1991. In Kalamazoo, Mary was involved with PEO, Newcomers, and the First Congregational Church. Until recent years, she traveled broadly. Mary was well known for her energy, enthusiasm, optimism, and helpful nature. Her family is grateful to Mary?s many steadfast friends in the Kalamazoo area with whom she shared mutual interests and many laughs. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29th at 1pm in the chapel of the First Congregational Church, 129 S. Park St. with the Rev. Dr. Susan K. Weier officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PEO Continuing Education Fund or the charity of your choice.
