KNOWLTON, Mary Jane
Of Portage, Michigan Passed away Saturday evening, January 3, 2009 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Mary was born September 7, 1922 the daughter of Clinton and Ruth Stoneburner and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo and Portage areas. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Allen Test Products. Mary was a member of Lakeland Reformed Church; and an auxiliary member of the Portage VFW #5855. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1946 she was united in marriage to her husband, John Knowlton who preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Graham; and 3 brothers, Clinton "Junior", Kenneth, and John Stoneburner. Surviving are her children, Larry Linda Knowlton, Susan Burns; 4 grandchildren, Andy Heidi Knowlton, Doug Michele Knowlton, Brendon Karen Burns, Tyler Jenny Burns; 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Waylon, Danica; brothers and sisters, Lucille Gerald Barber, Jim Shirley Stoneburner, Harry Norma Stoneburner, Jack Mary Ellen Stoneburner, Arline Elmo Wallace, Frank Judy Stoneburner, Judy John Jaeger, Hugh Stoneburner; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Pastors Ed Schmidt and Jean Lemmenes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Services of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center. www.langelands.com
