Mary Louise (Brand) Kleckner

Mary Louise Kleckner, age 88, of Kalamazoo passed away August 17, 2023. She was born September 9, 1934 in Wolcottville, Indiana to the late Charles H. and Mary Amelia (Schermerhorn) Brand.

Louise moved to Kalamazoo as a young child, she married Jerry her childhood sweetheart in 1952. They were married for over 50 years. Her life was dedicated to caring for others; sisters, parents, in-laws, husband and children. She was very involved with the local chapter of Eagles serving as madam president for many years. After retirement from Gilmore Department Store, she enjoyed her time spent with family at Cranberry Lake, at home in her garden and long walks with her dog.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Kleckner, in 2003; son, Thomas Kleckner, in 1971; and grandson, Nathaniel Wheeler.

She is survived by her children, Joan (Ted) Vesey, Laurel (Mark) Wheeler, Carol (Mike) Thran, and John (Janice) Kleckner; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph (Elaine) Brand, Jacque Brand, LaNita (Dennis) Campbell, and Virginia (Jerome) Skulan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where family will greet friends from 11:00am until the time of the service. A private interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
